![]() ![]() ![]() You'll visit dull locations such as a boat, a hospital and decrepit buildings. While some areas look ok, the majority of the locations are bland, lacking detail and not all that interesting to look at. It looks like the devs were not quite up to the task of creating a Syberia game in 3D. The jump to a fully 3D engine was a good move. Just like in the first two games you follow Kate on her travels through Russia with multiple stops on her journey. It is both an enjoyable adventure game, and one of the worst adventures I've ever played. Now that I've played the game, it will unfortunately not be added to my favorites list. Syberia 3 sat in my wishlist top 10 for a long, long time. If you are a big fan of the original Syberia you should play it to see for yourself, but I can't recommend it.Īs a fan of the original two Syberia games, this is a hard review to write. I would not say that this is a horrible game I hope that with a few patches most of the bugs will get fixed, but Syberia 3 is not a sequel people were waiting for more than a decade. because of the bad ending, the entire story seems pointless almost all of the characters lack personality I felt the lack of progress trough the story puzzles are very often boring and predictable I noticed the lack of "sounds of nature" (wind, waves, birds.) while the music is beautiful it is repeating voice acting ranges from ok to bad and some of the voices are very unfitting (Olga!) the story is ok but not even close to being as magical as is the case with Syberia 1 and 2 the music is beautiful and interesting (great job Inon Zur!) ![]() the story continues with Kate now going on her adventure (remember that finding Syberia was Hans's dream/adventure while Kate tried to find herself) Of course I saw the reviews on Steam but I thought "It can't be that bad" well it can, and I will try to explain why. I thought Syberia 3 would breathe life back into the genre but it looks like I was wrong.Ok I just finished the game after two weeks and since I am a huge fan of the original Syberia I really wanted to like this game. Though they also seem to be abandoning the genre, their latest game (Silence) got rid of the inventory and made it into yet another "just click here to progress the story" type of game. "Memoria" is probably the best point-and-click adventure I've played in recent years (if not ever), "Chains of Satinav", "Whispered World" and the "Deponia" series are also quite good. If you like 3d person point-and-click games, I highly recommend to check out games by the Daedalic studio. The graphics are excellent - it looks amazing - and the story is somewhat interesting, but it's still "walk around with the keyboard and click on what you see to progress" type of game. ![]() They recently crowdfunded a 3rd part in the series (Dreamfall Chapters) but it's still not very good. Yeah, I was also very disappointed at Dreamfall because The Longest Journey was the best game I've ever played and I had such great expectations. No cutscenes or dialogs were skippable so I had to watch the snow ostriches again. Next time I started the game it started from the very beginning. I tried saving game but there was no option to do it. They literally started the game with snow ostriches and discussion on how they mate.Īfter the initial cutscenes were over and I played a bit, I had to leave for a while. I don't know how good the story will be, but what I've seen so far is. Half of the time Kate keeps "moonwalking" against invisible walls, controlling her is a struggle. They replaced Syberia 1/2 point and click adventure style controls with keyboard/gamepad movement and objects becoming active only when you are near them. The graphics are at late 90s, early 2000's level. All movements are unnatural and look stiff. When characters speak they just randomly open and close their mouths with zero sync to actual words. I'm still in early game, but so far the game looks like crap. I just started playing Syberia 3 and it's fucking terrible. ![]()
